Job Description

The Implementation Specialist will manage and execute the configuration and deployment of a new practice or department per best practices and within the project time-frame established by the Management Consultant and Director of Client Operations.

Key Internal Relationships

The Implementation Specialist will work closely with peers around the company, primarily:

  • Management Consultants who will design and document requirements for new system configurations and handle exceptions
  • Primary Service Consultants who will take over the responsibility of managing a system configuration post-live
  • Director of Client Services and Client Services Manager to ensure that their time and other’s time is appropriately allocated and planned for
  • Other Implementation Specialists: Constant collaboration on how improve efficiency and quality of results
  • Product Manager to continuously improve OpenTempo to improve the efficiency of the build process and allow customers to do more of the work on their own

  • Systems built with few errors and re-work required
  • Go-lives and transitions to Client Services are successful and produce few follow-on issues
  • Completes most implementation setup tasks on his/her own.
  • Knows what he/she doesn’t know and appropriately seeks help from senior resources on topics that are complicated or not well understood
  • Constantly seeks out ways to improve existing processes, tools and product
  • Builds and maintains constructive relationships with customers and internal staff

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Accurately build OpenTempo systems per documented System Requirements using all OpenTempo features, configuration options and best practices
  • Apply the latest best practices and conventions during the build process so that systems are built in a uniform fashion
  • Stay up-to-date on all product changes in monthly releases, particularly ones that change existing build strategies or can improve ones in-process
  • Document the setup strategy, conventions, rules etc. with a level of detail that allows the Client Services team to easily and accurately service the system after transition
  • Interpret a set of requirements and ask clarifying questions to ensure that the requested system will meet expectations
  • Seek help from senior resources on topics that are complicated or not well understood
  • Handle exceptions when requested system design does not meet best practices
  • Escalate issues through the appropriate channels; classify problems as product, configuration, training or process and recommend appropriate corrections
  • Proactively work with the Management Consultant and Client Services if deadlines must be modified
  • Train customers and Primary Service Consultants on how to manage systems once they have been built
  • Suggest and act on ideas to continuously improve the product and/or internal processes, particularly ones related to lower the effort required by OpenTempo during the system build process
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with key scheduling contacts and internal Management Consultants/Primary Service Consultants that are working as team members on each implementation
  • Manage and submit status updates as per company guidelines
  • Prepare and submit a detailed and comprehensive design review for each client implementation
  • Up to 60% travel may be required


  • Minimum of 1-year project management and process redesign skills and experience
  • Solid, creative, and flexible problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to handle a variety of different projects simultaneously, and capable of managing multiple deadlines
  • Ability to build and maintain positive and productive client relationships
  • Ability to take direction and work independently
  • Ability to work outside of the traditional 8:00 – 5:00 work-day when necessary or requested to do so
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills


  • The Implementation Specialist job is a salaried, exempt position.
